The first five years are crucial for your child’s growth and development, as this is when their brain and body are growing rapidly. Regular health and development checks are recommended to ensure your child is meeting their milestones and progressing well.
At Happy Walkers Kids Physio, I offer Motor Development Checks at key stages to monitor your child’s physical development and address any concerns early on. These checks focus on:
Tummy Time: Encouraging your baby to build strength in their neck, shoulders, and core. Showing you various ways to incorporate this into your baby’s waking hours.
Flat Spots Around the Head: Assessing your baby for any signs of flat spots (plagiocephaly) and recommending ways to prevent or correct them.
Hip Checks: Screening for any hip issues, ensuring proper development and alignment.
Motor Development Assessments: Evaluating your child’s ability to meet milestones like rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, and walking.
After each developmental check, I will provide you with age-appropriate activities that you can do with your child at home. These activities are designed to support your child’s physical development and help them reach their next milestones.
While I recommend motor developmental checks at the following ages, Children can also be seen at any age if you have concerns or questions about their motor skills, or if you notice any issues in their development. I am here to support your child’s growth and help them reach their full potential.

These specialized checks only focus on your child’s motor skills, such as movement, coordination, and muscle strength. These checks can help identify any potential motor concerns early and provide recommendations for supporting your child’s physical development or ensure early referrals are made to the GP who can then refer to the paediatrician. All reports and letters to medical and other allied health professionals will be provided at the cost of time taken to complete the reports and letters.
